Discovering the Church of la Santísima Trinidad
This historic church stands in the Plaza del Cementerio. It is right next to the main square, called Plaza Mayor. You can also see the Torres de la Trinidad (Trinidad Towers) of the city hall nearby.
When Was the Church Built?
Building the Church of la Santísima Trinidad started a long time ago. Work began in the 14th century. That's over 600 years ago! The main entrance, or portal, shows a style called Gothic. This style often has pointed arches and detailed carvings.
Changes Over Time
Even though the outside has old Gothic parts, the inside of the church has changed. Over hundreds of years, different parts were updated. This means the interior looks a bit different from how it first did.
Famous Architects and Chapels
Some parts of the church were designed by famous people. For example, the chapel of Don Pedro Primero el Grande is thought to be by Andrés de Vandelvira. He was a very important architect. Another part, the Chapel of St Sebastian, was likely built by his students.
