Chute Lake is a small, peaceful lake located on the east side of Okanagan Mountain in British Columbia, Canada. It sits within the beautiful Okanagan Valley, a region known for its dry weather and amazing views.

You can reach Chute Lake by following Chute Lake Road, a gravel path that links the towns of Naramata in the south and Kelowna in the north. The lake is also accessible via the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, a popular route for walking and cycling. On the southwest shore of the lake, you'll find the Chute Lake Resort, a place where visitors can stay and enjoy the natural surroundings.

History of Chute Lake

Chute Lake has an interesting past. It was first named Lequime Lake in 1930. However, in 1955, its name was officially changed to Chute Lake. This new name matched what local people were already calling it.

In 2003, a very large wildfire, known as the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire, came extremely close to Chute Lake. The flames reached within a few meters of the Chute Lake Resort. Wildfires are quite common in this area because the Okanagan region has a naturally dry climate.
