How Chuy's Began
The very first Chuy's restaurant opened its doors in 1982. It was located on Barton Springs Road in Austin, Texas. This was the start of a fun and colorful restaurant chain.
Growing Across the States
For many years, Chuy's restaurants were mostly in Texas. But in 2009, Chuy's opened its first restaurant outside of Texas. This new location was in Franklin, Tennessee. This was a big step for the company.
Becoming a Public Company
On July 24, 2012, Chuy's became a "public company." This means that people could buy shares of the company. It helped Chuy's raise money to open even more restaurants. At that time, Chuy's had 36 locations in 7 states.
Remembering a Founder
One of the people who started Chuy's, Mike Young, passed away on August 11, 2023. He was 74 years old. He helped create the unique style and food that Chuy's is known for.
Chuy's Helps Kids
Chuy's is also known for its special event called the Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade. Since 1988, this parade has happened every year. During the parade, people collect toys for kids who might not otherwise get them. These toys are given to children through a group called Operation Blue Santa.
