Chyanne Ashley Dennis, born on April 9, 1999, is a talented footballer. She plays as a defender, which is a position that helps protect the goal. Chyanne is a key player for the Jamaica women's national team.
Early Life and School
Chyanne grew up in Florida, where she enjoyed playing many different sports. She even attended three special training camps for the United States women's national under-17 soccer team.
She went to American Heritage School. There, she was the captain of her school's soccer team. She led her team to win state championships two times! Chyanne also played for Florida's Olympic Development (ODP) team for two years. This team helps young athletes improve their skills.
Playing Career
College Soccer
Chyanne started attending the University of South Florida in 2017. She played for the South Florida Bulls women's soccer team.
In her first year, she started in 13 of the 17 games she played. As a defender, she helped her team achieve a school record of eight "shutouts." A shutout means the other team didn't score any goals. She also took seven shots and made one assist, helping her teammates score.
During her second year, Chyanne was a starting defender in 14 of the 17 games. She helped the team get seven more shutouts.
International Play
After training with the United States under-17 team, Chyanne decided to play for the Jamaica under-20 national team. In 2018, she played in the 2018 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. She played in two games for the team, playing a total of 180 minutes.
In the same year, she joined the senior national team. She played in three games at the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup. This tournament was important because it helped teams qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. Chyanne helped Jamaica finish third in the Gold Cup. This was a huge achievement because it meant Jamaica qualified for the World Cup for the very first time!
In May 2019, Chyanne was called up to the team again. This was just before their last friendly game against Panama before the World Cup.
