Ciénega de Flores is a city and a surrounding area called a municipality in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. It is located close to the big city of Monterrey. A large factory that makes Bridgestone tires opened here in 2007.
Local Traditions and Food
Ciénega de Flores is very well-known for its special food called machacado. This dish is made with dry meat and is a traditional meal in the state of Nuevo León. It's a popular part of the local culture.
People and Population
In 2005, a count of the people (called a census) showed that Ciénega de Flores had 14,268 residents. This included 5,735 males and 5,469 females. A small number, about 37 people, were Native Indian.
Most people, around 8,117, were Catholic. About 1,318 people followed other religions. There were 3,497 homes in the area, and most of them (3,370) were owned by the people living in them.
