Ciara Kathleen Michel (born 2 July 1985) is a talented British-American volleyball player. She is known for playing as a middle blocker. This means she plays in the middle of the front row. Her job is to block shots from the other team and score points with powerful spikes.

Ciara Michel's Volleyball Journey
Ciara was born in Taunton, England. When she was 10 years old, her family moved to Miami, Florida, in the United States. This is where she first learned to play volleyball.
Early Life and School
In Miami, Ciara went to Palmer Trinity School. She finished school there in 2003. She quickly became a star volleyball player at the school. Many people say she helped start a strong volleyball tradition there. After high school, she continued her education and played volleyball at the University of Miami. She was a student athlete from 2004 to 2008. Ciara even became the team captain. She still holds the record for the most blocks in the university's history!
Playing Professional Volleyball
After university, Ciara started her professional volleyball career. She first played in Australia for the University Blues of Victoria. Then, from 2010 to 2012, she played her first two professional seasons in Germany for a team called Alemannia Aachen.
The Olympic Dream
A big moment in Ciara's career was when she was chosen to play for Great Britain. She represented her country in the 2012 London Olympics. This was a huge honor! At the Olympics, she helped her team achieve a historic win against Algeria. The Great Britain team finished tied for 8th place in the competition.
Playing in Europe's Top Leagues
After the Olympics, Ciara continued to play for different teams. She joined VT Aurubis in Hamburg, Germany. In May 2013, she signed with Yamamay Busto Arsizio in Italy. This was a very important step. It made her the first British player ever to compete in the CEV Champions League. This is one of the biggest club competitions in European volleyball. Her team even won 2nd place in the CEV Champions League in 2015!
Ciara then spent the 2015–16 season playing in Turkey. She played for Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor. While there, she competed in another big European competition, the CEV Challenge Cup.
Later, she moved to France. She played for Association sportive Saint-Raphaël Volley-Ball
during the 2016–2017 season. Then, she moved to another French team, ASPTT Mulhouse, for the 2017–18 season. After that, she joined Pays d'Aix Venelles Volley Ball for the 2019–2020 season. Ciara Michel has had a long and successful career playing volleyball all over the world!
