Early Life and Music Education

Ciarán Farrell grew up in a home where music was loved. When he was young, he learned to play the piano and the clarinet at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. As a teenager, he started playing the guitar. Later, he studied classical guitar at the Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music and Drama. Ciarán's first album, called Perfect State, was released by RTÉ lyric fm. It was launched in Dublin on September 24, 2007. Less than three weeks later, Perfect State became a huge success. It entered the HMV classical music charts in Ireland at number 13 and quickly rose to the number 1 spot! This album features amazing musicians from Britain and Ireland, including the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, guitarist Craig Ogden, saxophonist Gerard McChrystal, and the Smith Quartet.

His second album, Jolt, came out in December 2011. It features the talented Irish guitarist Damien Kelly. Just a week after its release on iTunes, Jolt also reached the number 1 position on the Irish classical iTunes charts.

On December 7, 2012, a new album of solo guitar music, 'New Frontiers', was launched. This album also features guitarist Damien Kelly. It includes unique music for bottleneck slide guitar and guitar with digital delay effects.

Ciarán's music can also be heard on other CDs. These include Pluckblow by Gerard McChrystal and Craig Ogden, and Katie McMahon's album Shine, for which he wrote the title song. His music is also on John Feeley's album E-Motion.
