Ciera Rogers (born February 25, 1989) is an American business owner and fashion designer. She is best known for creating the popular clothing brand, Babes and Felines.
Early Life and Inspiration
Ciera Rogers was born and grew up in Houston, Texas. Her mother is from a Creole background, and her father is African-American. Ciera grew up with her mother and sister. They sometimes faced tough times, but Ciera was always determined.
Her mother, Zoe Jackson, is a talented jazz and R&B singer-songwriter. She was inspired by famous singers like Billie Holiday and Patti LaBelle. Ciera's mother also owned a vintage clothing store called Fashion Plate. This store was in Houston, Texas, and it inspired Ciera's own love for fashion.
Starting Her Career
Ciera studied Communications at the University of Houston. She earned her bachelor's degree in 2009. After college, Ciera worked as a Public Relations Specialist. She also worked as a Wardrobe Stylist in Houston. This means she helped people choose clothes and create stylish outfits.
Her fashion work even appeared in a big magazine! In October 2012, her designs were featured in Vogue Italia. This was a huge step in her career.
In 2012, Ciera moved to Los Angeles. There, she opened her own online store. She sold vintage clothes, just like her mother did. This helped her learn more about running a fashion business.
Creating Babes and Felines
Ciera Rogers launched her own clothing line, Babes and Felines, in 2013. She started this brand because she noticed something important. She found it hard to find clothes that fit curvy women well. She wanted to create stylish clothes that hugged the body and made women feel confident.
Babes and Felines quickly became very popular. Ciera is the CEO of her company. Her work has been recognized by many media outlets. Magazines and news channels have called her a "designer to watch." These include Galore, Black Enterprise, NY Post, and Elle South Africa.
Ciera has shared that filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is one of her biggest inspirations. This shows that creativity can come from many different places!
