City Chapel London is a church located in Beckton, a part of East London. It is a place where people come together for worship and to help their community.
About City Chapel
City Chapel was started by Dr Jonathan and Abbiih Oloyede. They have more than 15 years of experience working with churches and helping people. The church began in the autumn of 2008. Many friends and other groups helped them get started.
How City Chapel Began
The church officially became a registered charity on 13 February 2009. This means it is recognized by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. The Charity Commission makes sure that charities in England and Wales are run properly.
Helping the Community
City Chapel is known for its work in the local community. In 2010, people from the church helped create the Newham Foodbank. A food bank is a place where people can get free food if they are in need. Today, the Newham Foodbank is managed by its own group of leaders, called trustees. These trustees work separately from the church.
In 2011, the church also started "The East London City Projects." This is another way City Chapel helps people in East London.
Church Connections
City Chapel is connected with the Evangelical Alliance. This is a large group that brings together many Christian churches and organizations. Being affiliated means they share similar beliefs and work together on some projects.
