Ciudad Tula facts for kids
Tula is a cool town in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. It's part of the Tula Municipality.
A Look Back in Time
Tula was founded a very long time ago, on July 22, 1617. A Franciscan friar named Juan Baptist of Mollinedo started the town. This makes Tula one of the oldest cities in the state of Tamaulipas!
In 2011, Tula got a special title: it was named a Pueblo Mágico. This means "Magic Town" in Spanish. These towns are chosen because they have a lot of history, culture, and natural beauty.
Something super interesting happened in August 2013. Archeologists found 30 skeletons that are about 3,000 years old! This amazing discovery suggests that people might have lived in the Tula area for a very, very long time. It could even mean that some of the oldest family lines in America came from this region.
