The Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) is a public university in Tianjin, China. It is a special school that teaches students about civil aviation. This means it focuses on things like flying planes, managing airports, and keeping air travel safe.

The university works closely with the Civil Aviation Administration of China. It also gets money from the Tianjin city government and the Ministry of Education. CAUC is located right next to the Tianjin Binhai International Airport. It has two campuses, a northern and a southern one, covering a very large area.

History of CAUC

This university started a long time ago, on September 25, 1951. It was created to be a special university just for civil aviation in China.

In 2006, the school changed its name from Civil Aviation Institute of China (CAIC) to Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC). In 2011, CAUC celebrated its 60th birthday! The university is managed by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This administration is part of the Ministry of Transport in China.

CAUC has many teachers, over 1000 of them. Most of these teachers have advanced degrees, like master's or doctorates. This means they are highly educated in their fields.

Some teachers are very special. For example, one professor, Dr. Renbiao Wu, won a big national award for young scientists. Also, four professors are honored as "Distinguished Experts" by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

Students and Their Future

About 22,000 students study at CAUC. Most of them, around 20,000, are undergraduate students. These are students working towards their first college degree. There are also about 1,200 postgraduate students. These students are studying for higher degrees after their first one.

Many CAUC graduates work in the aviation industry. About one-seventh of all civil aviation staff in China are graduates from CAUC. Over 30,000 CAUC graduates are working in civil aviation around the world.

CAUC also offers special training for people already working in aviation. It has six training centers that teach how to maintain aircraft. These centers follow strict rules from aviation authorities. The university also trains air traffic controllers, airline agents, and flight attendants.

Working with Others

CAUC works with many international aviation groups. These include organizations like ICAO, IATA, and major aircraft companies like Boeing and Airbus. They also work with universities in other countries. This helps CAUC share knowledge and learn new things about aviation. Many experts from other countries visit CAUC to give talks.

What CAUC Teaches

The university has 9 colleges. These colleges offer 49 master's degree programs and 27 different undergraduate specialties. A "specialty" is like a major, focusing on a specific area of study. For example, the communication and information system course is considered a very important subject in Tianjin.

Here are some of the colleges at CAUC:
