The Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) is a big public university in Tianjin, China. It's like a special school for people who want to work in civil aviation. This means jobs related to regular flights for passengers and cargo, not military planes.

CAUC is supported by the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the government of Tianjin, along with the Ministry of Education. The university focuses on teaching students about engineering, technology, and management for the aviation world. It's located right next to the Tianjin Binhai International Airport, which is super handy for learning about planes! The university has two campuses, North and South, covering a huge area.

History of CAUC

The Civil Aviation University of China started a long time ago, in 1951. It was created specifically to train people for China's growing civil aviation industry. In 2011, the university celebrated its 60th birthday in Tianjin!

Becoming a University

For many years, it was known as the Civil Aviation Institute of China (CAIC). But on July 20, 2006, it officially changed its name to the Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC). This change showed how much the school had grown and how important it had become. Today, it's managed by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, which is part of the Ministry of Transport.

The university has more than 1,000 teaching staff. Most of them have advanced degrees, like master's or doctorates. These teachers are experts in their fields. For example, one professor, Dr. Renbiao Wu, won a special national award for young scientists in China. Also, four professors are recognized as "Distinguished Experts" by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

Students and Their Futures

About 22,000 students attend CAUC. This includes 20,000 undergraduate students (those working on their first degree) and 1,200 postgraduate students (those studying for master's or doctorates).

Many CAUC graduates go on to work in the aviation industry. In fact, about one-seventh of all civil aviation staff in China are CAUC graduates! Over 30,000 CAUC graduates are currently working in different parts of the civil aviation world, both in China and abroad.

Special Training Programs

CAUC offers special training for both Chinese and international students. It has six training centers that can give out certificates for aircraft maintenance. These certificates follow important rules from aviation authorities like CAAC (China) or FAA (USA).

The university is also approved to teach courses on air transport and how to handle dangerous goods on planes. They also train air traffic controllers, airline agents, and flight attendants.

Working with the World

CAUC works closely with many international aviation groups and companies. These include organizations like ICAO and IATA, and big aircraft makers like Boeing and Airbus. They also partner with aviation universities in countries like the UK, USA, France, Russia, and Australia. This helps students get a global perspective on aviation. Many experts from other countries visit CAUC to give talks and share their knowledge.
