A Look Back: Claire City's History
Claire City was started in 1913. It was named by A. E. Feeney, who was one of four people who gave land for the town. He named it after his wife, Claire. Mrs. Feeney was still living near the town in 1941.
The town's post office opened on November 21, 1913. Ben Sandsmark was the first postmaster. Later, in 1968, the post office moved into the Herb Bladow building.
