About Clara Serra
Early Life and Education
Clara Serra was born in Madrid, Spain, on September 13, 1982. Her father, Fernando Serra, was a writer. Clara studied Philosophy at the Complutense University of Madrid. After finishing her studies, she worked as a philosophy teacher in high schools for six years.
Entering Politics
Clara Serra became involved in politics when the political party Podemos was created. She joined the party and started her political career.
Time in the Assembly of Madrid
In 2015, Clara Serra ran as a candidate for Podemos in the regional election in Madrid. She won a seat and became a member of the Assembly of Madrid. Her younger sister, Isabel Serra, also became a member of the Assembly in the same political group.
Later, Clara Serra was chosen by her fellow politicians to become the Spokeswoman for the Podemos group in the Assembly. This meant she was a main voice for her party in the parliament.
In May 2019, Clara Serra ran for election again, this time with a different political group called Más Madrid. She was elected once more to the regional parliament. However, in October 2019, she decided to leave her position. She disagreed with some of the decisions being made by the Más País platform, which was a new national project. She also did not want her group to run against another party, En Comú Podem, in Barcelona.
Her Writings
