Clara de Buen Richkarday was born in Mexico City in 1954. She is a famous Mexican architect. She has won many awards for her amazing building designs.
Clara de Buen often works with her partners, Aurelio Nuño and Carlos Mac Gregor. Together, they have received many honors. These include a Silver Medal at an architecture event in Bulgaria. They also won a special prize from the city of Frankfurt for their work on Metro stations. In 2009, she received the "Antonio Attolini Lack" award for her long career.
About Clara de Buen
Clara de Buen studied architecture at the Universidad Iberoamericana. This university is in Mexico. Since 1984, she has worked with Aurelio Nuño Morales, Carlos Mac Gregor Anciola, and Francis Sáenz. Their architecture office is called Despacho Nuño, Mac Gregor y de Buen Arquitectos S. C..
She won a gold medal from the International Academy of Architecture (IAA). This was at the VI INTERARCH biennale in 1991. She also got a special award from Frankfurt am Main in Germany. This was for her cool designs of several Metro stations in Mexico City.
Clara's father was a civil engineer. He was very good at math. For a while, Clara thought about studying mathematics too. But she decided to become an architect instead. She loved drawing and seeing her ideas built. She also enjoyed the creative process of designing buildings.
Her Mentors
Clara de Buen learned from many great architects. Some of her mentors were Francisco Serrano and Carlos Mijares. She worked in their offices when she was starting out. She also looks up to Teodoro González de León and Ricardo Legorreta. She believes they had strong ideas about architecture. Clara thinks that you can learn new things every day. It's all about noticing and using those lessons.

Clara de Buen has designed many important buildings. Here are some of her famous works:
- Museum of the Poliforum Culture Center in León, Guanajuato (2004–2009).
- A home for seniors in Mexico City (1998–2002). She worked on this with Mac Gregor and Nuño.
- The Colegio Alemán Alexander Von Humboldt-Plantel Norte (1988–1990). This is a German school in Lomas Verdes. She designed it with Mac Gregor and Nuño.
- The IBM building in Santa Fe, Mexico City (1995–1997). This was also with Mac Gregor and Nuño.
- Stations for Metro line B (1994–1997). She worked on these with Mac Gregor and Nuño.
- Stations for Metro line A (1986–1991). These were also with Mac Gregor and Nuño.
- The Library of the faculty of medicine at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2005–2006). This was with Mac Gregor and Nuño.
- The Museo Maya (Maya Museum) in Chetumal. She designed this with Mac Gregor and Nuño.
- The City Theater in Chetumal. This was also with Mac Gregor and Nuño.
