A Look Back: Clarkson's History
Clarkson had a post office that opened in 1889. This was important because it helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1906.
In the 1940s, about 50 people lived in Clarkson. However, over time, the population became smaller. From 1990 to 2000, only about 10 residents called Clarkson home.
Where is Clarkson?
Clarkson is found in the northern part of Milam County. It's located right on Farm to Market Road 1445. This type of road helps connect farms and rural areas to larger towns. Clarkson is about 9 miles (14 kilometers) northeast of a bigger town called Cameron.

A long time ago, in 1903, Clarkson had two schools. One school had one teacher and taught 43 white students. The other school had two teachers and taught 105 black students. In the early 1950s, these schools joined the Cameron Independent School District. This meant students from Clarkson would then attend schools in Cameron.
