Claudia Lösch (born October 19, 1988) is a celebrated Austrian athlete who became a champion in alpine skiing. She is a Paralympian, which means she competes in the Paralympic Games, a major international sports event for athletes with disabilities.

Claudia competes as a monoskier. This means she skis while sitting on a special seat that has a single ski underneath it. She has won many medals, including two gold medals at the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, Canada.

Early Life and Education

Claudia Lösch was born in Vienna, Austria. In 1994, when she was a young girl, an accident caused her to become paraplegic, which means she is unable to use her legs. She grew up in a town called Neupölla.

Despite this challenge, Claudia focused on her education and her love for sports. She graduated from a school in Horn in 2007. After that, she went on to study political science at a university in Innsbruck.

A Champion on the Slopes

Claudia discovered a passion for alpine skiing and quickly became very good at it. She competes in the "women's sitting" category. Her hard work and talent have led her to win many awards at the highest levels of the sport.

Paralympic Glory

The Paralympic Games are the biggest stage for para-athletes, and Claudia has shone brightly there.

• 2006 Turin Paralympics: In her first Paralympic Games in Italy, she won a bronze medal in the downhill event.
• 2010 Vancouver Paralympics: This was an incredible event for Claudia. She won two gold medals, one in the super-G and another in the slalom. She also took home a silver medal in the super combined and a bronze in the downhill.
• 2014 Sochi Paralympics: In Russia, she continued her success by winning two silver medals, one in the super-G and another in the giant slalom.

• She won the overall European Cup three years in a row, from 2003 to 2006.
• She was the overall World Cup champion for the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons.

• At the 2011 World Championships in Italy, she won an amazing five medals, including four silvers and one bronze.
• At the 2013 World Championships in Spain, she won three gold medals.
• At the 2015 World Championships in Canada, she won three gold medals and one silver medal.
