Clemency (called Kënzeg in Luxembourgish and Küntzig in German) is a lovely village in Luxembourg. It used to be its own local government area, known as a commune. Since 2012, Clemency has been part of a larger new commune called Käerjeng. It is located in the Capellen canton, which is like a district within Luxembourg.

What is a Commune?

A commune is like a local town or city council area. It is the smallest way that a country is divided up for local government. Communes have their own leaders who help manage things like local roads, schools, and services for the people living there.

Clemency's History

Clemency has a long and interesting history. People have lived in this area for a very long time. In fact, the region around Clemency is known for its Celtic archaeological sites. This means that ancient Celtic people, who lived thousands of years ago, once had settlements here. Archaeologists have found clues about their lives in this area.

Becoming Part of Käerjeng

In 2012, several smaller communes in Luxembourg decided to join together. This was done to create larger, more efficient local governments. Clemency merged with other areas to form the new commune of Käerjeng. This change helped the region work better together.

Life in Clemency

Today, Clemency is a peaceful village within the Käerjeng commune. It has a beautiful old church and charming buildings. The village keeps its unique feel even though it is now part of a larger area. People enjoy the quiet life and the history of the place.
