Clementina Ródenas Villena, born on May 11, 1949, is a Spanish politician. She was a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). She is best known for being the Mayor of Valencia, a big city in Spain, from 1989 to 1991.

Early Life and Education
Clementina Ródenas grew up in Ayora, Spain. She went to the Requena Institute for her high school studies. Later, in 1966, she started studying Economics and Business Administration. She attended the University of Valencia.
Becoming a Doctor
In 1978, Clementina Ródenas earned her doctorate in Economics. This was a very special achievement. She was the first woman to get a doctorate from the University of Valencia. A year later, in 1979, she became a full professor. She taught Economic History at the university.
Political Career
Clementina Ródenas joined politics in 1975. She became a member of the Partit Socialista del País Valencià. She also joined a workers' union called Unión General de Trabajadores.
Role in Valencia City Council
From 1983 to 1989, Clementina Ródenas worked in the Valencia City Council. She was a councillor for the Treasury. This meant she helped manage the city's money. She was also the first deputy mayor. This is like being the second-in-command to the mayor. She worked with Mayor Ricard Pérez Casado during this time.
Becoming Mayor of Valencia
In late 1988, Mayor Ricard Pérez Casado stepped down. Clementina Ródenas was then chosen to be the new mayor. She became the Mayor of Valencia in 1989. It was a very close vote!
After Her Term as Mayor
Clementina Ródenas ran for mayor again in the 1991 elections. She won many votes, more than her main opponent. However, her party did not win enough seats to have a full majority. This meant they needed help from other parties. Because of agreements between other parties, Rita Barberá became the new mayor instead.
After this, Clementina Ródenas continued to be important in politics. From 1991 to 1995, she led the opposition in the Valencia City Council. This means she was the main voice against the ruling party. She also became the president of the Valencia Provincial Council. She represented Spanish cities and towns in a European council too.
Party Leadership
In April 1994, Clementina Ródenas was chosen for an important role. She became a member of the Executive Committee of her political party, the PSPV-PSOE.
