Cliff Tucker (born January 12, 1989 – died May 28, 2018) was an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins. Cliff Tucker passed away in a car accident in 2018.

High School Sports Star
Cliff Tucker went to Chapin High School in El Paso, Texas. He was a top player in both basketball and football. In his senior year, he scored about 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds per basketball game. He also had 19 touchdown catches in football.
Many colleges were interested in Cliff, including Maryland. He chose to play for the Maryland Terrapins. He was named the All-City MVP in 2007. He was also chosen for All-Region and All-State teams twice.
College Basketball and Football
When Cliff Tucker joined Maryland, he was told he could play both basketball and football. He played four seasons for the Terrapins basketball team from 2007 to 2011. He played in 131 games during his college career.
As a junior, Cliff made a famous shot. He hit a three-pointer at the last second to win a game against Georgia Tech in overtime. This amazing shot helped the Terrapins stay in the race for the Atlantic Coast Conference title. They ended up sharing the title with Duke. That year, he helped Maryland reach the NCAA Tournament.
After his basketball career at Maryland, Cliff joined the Maryland football team for a short time. He then transferred to UTEP to play football for one season.
Playing Professional Basketball
After college, Cliff Tucker started his professional basketball career. In 2012, he joined the Springfield Armor in the NBA D-League. He played 13 games there.
Cliff then played overseas for several years. He played basketball in countries like Hungary, Germany, and the Dominican Republic. In 2015, he played for Nürnberg Falcons BC in Germany. He also played in Venezuela and Colombia.
During the 2016–17 season, Cliff played for Lobos UAD Mazatlán in Mexico. He had a great season, averaging over 20 points per game. In his final professional season in 2017–18, he played a few games for a team in Argentina.
Remembering Cliff Tucker
On May 28, 2018, Cliff Tucker passed away in a car accident. He was traveling from San Antonio to El Paso, Texas. The vehicle he was in had a tire problem, which caused it to lose control. His wife and daughter were also injured in the accident.
His former Maryland basketball coach, Gary Williams, remembered him fondly. Coach Williams said, "Cliff was a great teammate willing to do whatever it took to make us champions."
