Clint Edward Lowery (born December 15, 1971) is an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He is best known as a guitarist and backing vocalist for the rock band Sevendust.

Clint has also played in other bands like Dark New Day and Still Rain. He was a touring guitarist for Korn in 2007 and Seether in 2017. In 2008, he started a solo music project called Hello Demons Meet Skeletons. He wrote and recorded a six-song EP called Chills in just one week. He played all the instruments on this CD, which his brother Corey Lowery produced. He later released two more EPs under this name, with his fourth and last one, Choices, coming out in 2013.

In 2012, Lowery formed a band called Call Me No One. He was the lead singer and guitarist, working with his Sevendust bandmate Morgan Rose. Their first album, Last Parade, was released in June 2012.

In June 2013, he introduced his own signature guitar, the PRS SE Clint Lowery, made by Paul Reed Smith.

Clint Lowery's Music Journey

Still Rain

In 1989, Clint Lowery helped start a band called Still Rain. The band included vocalist Donnie Hamby, guitarist Troy McLawhorn, bassist Corey Lowery, and drummer Bevan Davies. Still Rain played many shows each year, mixing cover songs with their own original music. This helped them gain a large group of fans.

After a few years, they decided to focus only on their own songs. They released their first album, Still Rain, and a second album, Bitter Black Water, soon followed.

Sevendust

After his time with Still Rain, Lowery joined the American heavy metal band Sevendust. This band had a very different style and sound from his previous group. Their first studio album, Sevendust, came out on April 15, 1997.

In 1999, they released their second album, Home. This album had four singles that did well on the music charts. Lowery performed with the band at Woodstock '99. They also opened for other bands like Skunk Anansie in Germany. They even played with Kid Rock and Ted Nugent for Metallica on New Year's Eve in 1999.

In 2001, Sevendust released Animosity. Their fourth album, Seasons, came out in 2003. This album was very popular and featured their highest-charting song, "Enemy". In 2004, the band released a live album called Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live.

Lowery left Sevendust in 2004 to join Dark New Day. However, he returned to Sevendust in 2008 and recorded their eighth album, Cold Day Memory, released in 2010. He wanted to make sure the band's music was even better than before. Sevendust's most recent album, Truth Killer, was released in 2023.

Dark New Day

On December 11, 2004, Clint Lowery left Sevendust during a tour. He wanted to play with his brother Corey Lowery in their new band, Dark New Day. This band had just signed with Warner Bros. records.

On June 14, 2005, Dark New Day released their first album, Twelve Year Silence. Their first song, "Brother", became a hit. In September 2006, they released an EP called Black Porch (Acoustic Sessions), which included new songs and acoustic versions of old ones.

After some time, Lowery announced that two new Dark New Day albums would be released digitally. These albums, Hail Mary and B-Sides, included unreleased music. The band also rerecorded some songs and released New Tradition in 2012. Lowery later said that the band was likely on a long break.

Korn

In 2007, Lowery toured with the band Korn as their live guitarist for eight months. He joined them for their first appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on March 1, 2007. He left Korn in October 2007 and was replaced by Shane Gibson. On March 26, 2008, he announced he had rejoined Sevendust.

Solo Work

In September 2008, Clint Lowery recorded a six-song EP while taking a break from Sevendust. He played every instrument on this CD, which his brother Corey Lowery produced. He called this project "Hello Demons Meet Skeletons."

Lowery explained that "Hello Demons Meet Skeletons" was a way to describe facing the challenges and memories in one's life. He wanted to write songs about personal topics to help him move forward. He played and sang everything himself because it was a very personal project. The EP, Chills, was released on October 12, 2008.

In May 2010, he released solo songs like "The Drive" and "Kicking Tree" on iTunes. His EP Words That Sing Well was released on April 19, 2011. He then released Uncomfortable Silence on August 22, 2011, saying it would be the last HDMS project for a while.

In June 2013, Lowery announced he was recording six acoustic songs. He said this would be the final record under the Hello Demons Meet Skeletons name. This EP, Choices, was released on October 22, 2013. More recently, he decided to bring the project back and is working on a new EP.

Lowery released his first full-length solo album, God Bless the Renegades, on January 31, 2020. He worked with producer Michael Baskette on this album. An EP called Grief & Distance was released in June 2020, and Ghostwriter EP came out in February 2023.

Call Me No One

In 2012, Lowery and Morgan Rose started a new project called Call Me No One. They began recording their first album in January. The song "Biggest Fan" came out in April, and their album Last Parade was released in June.

The band also announced a tour for the summer. Lowery later said that Call Me No One would be put on hold so he could work on a new Sevendust album. He later mentioned that Call Me No One was a one-time project and there would be no more music from them.

Seether

In February 2017, it was announced that Lowery would be a touring guitarist for the band Seether during 2017. He also helped with their album Poison the Parish. After the tour, Lowery returned to Sevendust. His brother, Corey Lowery, then became Seether's lead guitarist.

Other Projects

Angel's Son

"Angel's Son" is a song written by Lajon Witherspoon and Clint Lowery. It was performed by Witherspoon, Lowery, Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose, and former Snot member Sonny Mayo. This song was created for a special album called Strait Up, which honored James Lynn Strait after he passed away. It was the only single released from that tribute album. Later, Sevendust recorded their own version of the song for their 2001 album, Animosity.

The music video for the Strait Up version shows the band playing on a beach around a camp fire. It also includes old videos of James Lynn Strait. Many other musicians, like System of a Down, Korn, and Incubus, appear in the video to remember their friend.

A Song for Chi

Clint Lowery was part of an all-star group of musicians who recorded an instrumental song to help Deftones bassist, Chi Cheng. Chi Cheng was in a coma after a car accident in 2008 and passed away in 2013. Other musicians involved included Korn bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu and guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, and Slipknot guitarist Jim Root.

Yahweh

In 2014, Stryper singer and guitarist Michael Sweet met Lowery. Sweet asked Lowery if he would like to help write a song for Stryper's new album. Lowery agreed and sent some guitar ideas. One of these ideas became the song "Yahweh." Sweet said it was an "epic" and "powerful" song. Lowery was excited about the song and mentioned that Stryper had influenced him when he was younger.

Guitar Lessons

Clint Lowery has offered online guitar lessons through Skype. These lessons cover topics like scales, how to improvise, songwriting, and playing solos. In January 2015, he also released a teaching DVD as part of a series called "The Sound And The Story."

Producing Music

In 2012 and 2013, Lowery helped produce music for several bands. These included Dead Fish Handshake, Novus Dae, Statik Silence, and Digital Collapse. He also helped write four songs for the band Half Past My Sin. Lowery was also involved in recording the album for the band 3 Years Hollow.

Personal Life

Clint Lowery has two brothers, Corey Lowery and Dustin Lowery. Both of his brothers have played in different bands. All three brothers went to Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Lowery married Tara Jenkins in St. Louis, Missouri in September 2010. They have a son named Harper, born in December 2010, and a daughter named Evie, born in March 2013.

Clint Lowery's father, Willie Lowery, was also a musician. He was also a supporter for the Lumbee tribe and passed away in 2012.

In an interview, Lowery shared that his first guitar was an Aria Pro II, which he bought when he was twelve years old. He also mentioned that he started as a drummer before learning to play the acoustic guitar.
