Clinton College (Kentucky) facts for kids
Clinton College was a school in Clinton, Kentucky. It was started in 1873 and opened its doors in 1874. The college closed in 1915.
When it first opened, it was a school only for girls. It was called Clinton Female College. But by 1876, both boys and girls could attend. The school campus was about eight acres in size.

The College's Beginning
Willis White, a Baptist preacher, founded Clinton College. He had also been the superintendent of schools for Hickman County. The school was supported by Baptist groups. First, it was the West Union Baptist Association. Later, it was the West Kentucky Baptist Association.
Who Attended Clinton College?
Students mainly came from western Kentucky. They also came from northwestern Tennessee and southeastern Missouri. The college offered many levels of learning. Students could study from elementary school levels all the way up to college courses.
After the College Closed
After Clinton College closed in 1915, its campus was still used for education. From 1918 to 1935, the buildings became home to Clinton High School.

- Jean Gurney Fine Spahr (1861-1935) was a teacher at Clinton College. She was also a social reformer. This means she worked to make society better for everyone.
