Before acting, Clive Hornby was a musician. In the 1960s, he was a drummer. He played drums for a band called The Dennisons.
Family Life
Clive Hornby was married to Helen Weir. Helen also acted on Emmerdale. She played his character's wife, Pat Sugden. They had a son named Thomas. Clive and Helen later divorced in 2000.
His Passing
Clive Hornby passed away on July 3, 2008. He was 63 years old. He had left Emmerdale to focus on his health. His funeral took place in Leeds on July 15, 2008.
His character, Jack Sugden, was written out of Emmerdale in February 2009. The show held a special funeral for Jack. They used old recordings of Jack's voice. This helped other characters remember him. At the end of the episode, a vision of Jack appeared. The show then played the original Emmerdale Farm theme song.
