Emmerdale facts for kids
Emmerdale is a very popular British TV show. It's a type of show called a soap opera, which means it tells ongoing stories about the same group of characters. The show takes place in a pretend village called Emmerdale, located in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in England. Until 1994, the village was known as Beckindale.
Many of the stories happen around The Woolpack, which is the main pub in the village. You can watch Emmerdale on the ITV channel every weekday evening at 7 o'clock.
The show first started in 1972, created by Kevin Laffan. It was originally called Emmerdale Farm until 1989. This makes Emmerdale the second oldest soap opera in Britain, right after Coronation Street. It is one of the most watched TV shows in the UK and has won many awards, including a BAFTA.
