The Story of Cloetta
How It All Started
Cloetta's journey began a long time ago, in 1862. Three brothers named Christoph, Nutin, and Bernard Cloëtta opened a chocolate factory in Copenhagen, Denmark. They called it Brødrene Cloëttas steam chocolate factory.
Growing Bigger
The company quickly grew! In 1873, Nutin Cloëtta helped set up a new factory in Malmö, Sweden. Later, in 1896, another factory was opened in Oslo, Norway. This helped Cloetta share its tasty treats with even more people.
Becoming Independent Again
For a while, Cloetta was part of a bigger company called Cloetta Fazer. But in 2008, it was decided that Cloetta would become its own company again. It started trading its shares on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in December 2008. A few years later, in December 2011, Cloetta joined with another candy company called Leaf to become one big sweet-making team!
Cloetta Today
Where Cloetta Makes Candy
Today, Cloetta has six factories in five different countries. This is where all the yummy candies are made! The two largest factories are located in Levice, Slovakia, and Ljungsbro, Sweden.
Popular Brands You Might Know
Cloetta owns many famous candy brands. You might recognize some of them, like Läkerol, Candyking, Jenkki, Kexchoklad, Malaco, Polly, Sportlife, and Red Band. They also have their own brand, simply called Cloetta.
Recent Changes
In 2016, Cloetta made a big move by buying a company called Candyking. Candyking is known for its "pick & mix" candies, which are popular in the UK and Nordic countries. This made Cloetta even bigger in the candy world!
Katarina Tell became the new CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Cloetta in September 2024. She is now in charge of leading the company.
