Clyde "Big Splo" Spearman was an amazing American baseball player. He was born on July 23, 1912, and passed away on February 13, 1955. Clyde was known as an outfielder, a player who catches balls hit into the far part of the field.

He played in the Negro leagues from 1932 to 1946. These leagues were special baseball leagues for African American players. They played during a time when major league baseball was not open to everyone.

Clyde came from a family of baseball players. Four of his brothers also played in the Negro leagues. Their names were Charles, Henry, Willie, and Codie. Even his nephew, Fred, played in these leagues too!
