The Clymer House is a special old home located at 31 Clymer Road in Harrisville, New Hampshire. It was built in 1932. This house is a great example of Colonial Revival style. This means it was designed to look like older homes from the 1700s. The Clymer House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. This list helps protect important historical places.

A Look at the Clymer House

The Clymer House is found in a quiet, country area. It sits north of the main village in Harrisville. You can find it on the north side of Clymer Road. This road is a short street off Tolman Pond Road.

What Does It Look Like?

The house is a 1-1/2 story building made of wood. It has a pointed roof and a chimney in the middle. The outside is covered with clapboard siding. It was built on the old stone foundation of an even older house.

The front of the house faces west. It has three sections, with windows on each side of the main door. The front door has narrow windows next to it, called sidelights. Both the door and windows reach right up to the roof's edge. This design was common in houses built in the 1700s.

Inside the House

The inside of the Clymer House has not changed much since it was built. It still has its original fireplace. The fireplace has a special wood frame around it with panels. This shows the careful craftsmanship from when it was built.

History of the Clymer House

The Clymer House was built in 1932. It is a rare example of a well-kept Colonial Revival cottage in the area. This style was popular because it brought back the look of early American homes.

Other Buildings on the Property

The barn that comes with the house was also built around the same time. Like the house, it stands on an old foundation. The property also has other buildings from that period. These include a garage with special siding and a small guesthouse.

The whole property feels like a traditional 18th-century farm. You can still find original farms like this in Harrisville. The Clymer House helps us remember what these old farms looked like.
