- 1909: One of the earliest recorded rescues happened in 1909. The station crew successfully rescued everyone from the coastal steamer Argo. This showed the importance of the station right from the start.
- 1980: A remarkable event occurred in 1980. A brave Coast Guard member named Richard Dixon received two Coast Guard Medals. This medal is given for acts of heroism. Dixon was the coxswain (the person in charge of a small boat) of a 44-foot Motor Lifeboat. He led two separate, very difficult rescues during the same July 4th weekend. His actions showed incredible courage and skill.
