Coin was a small town that once existed in eastern Oregon County, Missouri, a state in the United States. Today, it's known as a "ghost town" because the community is no longer there.
Where Was Coin Located?
The place where Coin used to be is found in an area called Bat Cave Hollow. This spot is right next to a road known today as Missouri Route FF.
How Did Coin Get Its Name?
The town of Coin was named after an early settler in the area, a person who helped start the community, named Coin Jones. The town even had its own post office! It opened in 1895 and helped people send and receive mail until it closed in 1909.
