Coldbrook Farm is a special historic home and farm located in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. It's found in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. This property includes a large stone house, a unique barn, and a small stone building called a spring house. All these buildings were constructed around the year 1800.
What is Coldbrook Farm?
The main house at Coldbrook Farm has two stories. It features a central part with a classic Georgian design. On each side, there are two-story wings that are set back a little.
Later, in the late 1800s, some changes were made to the house. These updates were done in the Colonial Revival style. This included adding dormer windows to the roof. A colonnade, which is a row of columns, was also added.
The Farm Buildings
Besides the main house, Coldbrook Farm also has other important buildings. There is a large frame bank barn. A bank barn is built into the side of a hill. This allows you to enter the barn on two different levels.
The property also has a stone spring house. A spring house is a small building built over a natural spring. People used them to keep food cool before refrigerators existed.
