Early Life and Education

Colette Guillopé grew up with parents who were both professors. She studied at a special school called the École normale supérieure de Fontenay-aux-Roses.

She continued her studies and earned a master's degree. In 1977, she received her doctorate from the Centre national de la recherche scientifique. Later, in 1983, she completed another advanced degree, similar to a second doctorate, at the University of Paris-Sud. Her supervisor for this work was a famous mathematician named Roger Temam.

Career and Achievements

Colette Guillopé has done a lot to support women in mathematics and science. In 1987, she helped start an organization called L'association femmes et mathématiques. This group supports women who work in math. She was even the president of this group from 1996 to 1998.

She also led another organization called femmes & sciences from 2004 to 2008. This group also works to encourage women in science.

In 2016, Colette Guillopé received a very important award from France. She became an officer in the Legion of Honour. This is one of the highest awards France gives to people who have done great things for their country. She had already been a knight in the Legion before this.
