The Collins Zoo was once a home for many animals in Collins, Mississippi. It was known before as the Collins Exotic Animal Orphanage. This zoo has been closed to visitors since May 2013.
The Zoo's Story
The Collins Zoo started in 1986. It was founded by Gus and Betty White. The zoo was open for many years. It was a place where people could see different animals.
Over time, the zoo faced some challenges. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks reviewed how the zoo was managed. In May 2013, the zoo's special license from the USDA was taken away. Because of this, the Collins Zoo closed its doors. It has remained closed ever since.
