Colm Tobin is an Irish writer and television producer. He is known for creating fun TV shows like Irish Pictorial Weekly, Langerland.TV, Science Fiction, and Brain Freeze.
His Early Life
Colm Tobin grew up in a place called Ardfield in Ireland. When he was younger, he enjoyed performing music. Later, he went to college and studied law. Even though he didn't become a lawyer, learning about law helped him understand politics better. This understanding later influenced the funny things he wrote.
Creating TV Shows and Books
Since 2006, Colm Tobin has worked with a company called Kite Entertainment. He helped create an animated TV show called Langerland.TV. This show is based on a funny website and has short episodes that play on RTÉ Two.
Colm Tobin has also written for children's animated series. He worked on shows like Science Fiction and helped create Brain Freeze. A famous animation studio, Aardman Animations, helped share Brain Freeze with many people. Colm Tobin says that writing for kids is different from writing for adults. For kids, he focuses on making sure the show is truly entertaining without needing to be shocking or controversial.
Colm Tobin was one of the first writers in Ireland to use Twitter to share his work and connect with people. His Twitter account, @colmtobin, became very popular. He often reminds people that he is not Colm Tóibín, who is another famous Irish writer. Because of his popularity on Twitter, he got a book deal with Penguin Books. His book, called Surviving Ireland, was published in 2015.
Today, Colm Tobin lives in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland.
