Long ago, this area had a different name: Copopa. There was even a post office called Copopa that opened in 1824. It helped people send and receive mail for many years, until 1904.

Later, a person who developed land and built new things in the area came up with the name Columbia Hills Corners. They thought this name sounded nice and would make people interested in buying land or visiting a new country club they were building nearby. It was a clever way to make the place sound more appealing!
