The Colver-Rogers Farmstead is a really old farm in Morgan Township, Pennsylvania. It's also known as the Norval P. Rogers House. This historic place shows us what life was like long ago.

Discovering the Colver-Rogers Farmstead

This farmstead is a special piece of history. It was built way back in 1830. Imagine a house that's almost 200 years old! It's located in Greene County, Pennsylvania.

A Look at the Farmhouse

The main house started as a two-story stone building. It had a kitchen wing, also made of stone. This part of the house was built in a style called Greek Revival. This style was popular in the 1800s. It often used ideas from ancient Greek buildings.

Around 1906, the house got some updates. A new roof, called a gambrel roof, was added. A big porch was also built. These changes gave the house a Colonial Revival look. This style brought back design ideas from early American homes.

Other Buildings on the Farm

The farmstead isn't just the main house. There are other old buildings too. A large bank barn was built around 1880. A bank barn is special because it's built into a hillside. This allows you to enter different levels from the ground. There's also a big wash house from about 1906. This was likely used for laundry.

Why is it Important?

The Colver-Rogers Farmstead is important because it shows how farms looked and worked in the past. Because of its history and unique architecture, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. This list helps protect important historical sites across the country.
