The Combined Arms Research Library (CARL) is a special library for the United States Army. It's located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. This library helps students and teachers at the United States Army Command and General Staff College.

CARL has a huge collection of over 300,000 books. These books cover everything about military science. This includes how different parts of the military work together. It also covers how armies plan battles and train soldiers.

The library also has special collections. These include over 200,000 unique items. There are also 250,000 documents. These are like old letters, maps, and reports.

Every year, the CARL team answers about 30,000 questions. They help soldiers, teachers, and staff. They can help people at Fort Leavenworth and all over the world. They do this using the Defense Digital Library Reference Service.

It was named the 2007 Federal Library of the Year. This award came from the Federal Library and Information Center Committee (FLICC).
