Representing Spain at Eurovision
First Eurovision Appearance: 1961
Conchita Bautista made history by being the very first singer to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest. This happened on March 18, 1961, in Cannes, France. She performed the song "Estando contigo" (which means "Being with you").
Her song was the first one performed in the entire contest that year. At the end of the voting, she finished in ninth place out of 16 countries. This was a good start for Spain in the competition.
Second Eurovision Appearance: 1965
Conchita Bautista returned to the Eurovision stage four years later. On March 20, 1965, she represented Spain for the second time in Naples, Italy. Her song was called "Qué bueno, qué bueno" (meaning "How good, how good").
Unfortunately, this time, her song did not receive any points from the voters. This meant Spain ended up with "nul points" (zero points), just like in 1962.

After her Eurovision appearances, Conchita Bautista continued to have a very successful career. She recorded many songs and went on tours not only in Spain but also in other countries.
