The community of Condit was named after a person named L. S. Condit. He was known in the area because he owned a local creamery. A creamery is a place where milk products like butter and cheese are made. It was common for communities to be named after important local figures or businesses.

Besides the post office, Condit was also an important stop on the Cleveland, Columbus and Mount Vernon Railroad. Having a railroad station meant that people and goods could travel to and from Condit, connecting it to other towns and cities. This was very important for trade and transportation in the past.
