The Confederate Memorial Park is a special place in Tampa, Florida. It used to have a very large Confederate Flag. This flag was so big you could see it from the nearby highways, I-4 and I-75. The flag was taken down on June 1, 2020, because of public protests happening at that time.
What is the Confederate Memorial Park?
This park first opened in 2008. A group called the Sons of Confederate Veterans helped pay for it. The park was known for its huge Confederate flag. This flag measured about 60 feet by 30 feet. Some people said it was the second largest Confederate flag anywhere.
Why Was the Flag Removed?
In 2020, many public protests took place. During these protests, people made threats on social media to burn the flag at the park. Because of these threats, the large flag was taken down on June 1, 2020.
