The Continental Oil Company building in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is a cool old complex. It was built starting in 1905. For most of the 1900s, it helped store oil for the Continental Oil Company. This property was very important for businesses that used the nearby railroad.
Later, the property was owned by the Sioux Oil Company. They left the complex in 1990. By 2000, a trailer sales business was using the space.

Exploring the Historic Buildings
This property has three main buildings. They are located right next to a railroad line. This line runs along Reed Avenue on the west side of Cheyenne.
Building One: The Main Structure
The first building is about 40 feet (12 meters) wide and 60 feet (18 meters) long. It has a shallow basement. You can see the basement from the outside because it's made of sandstone blocks.
The east side of this building is the most detailed. It has a special decorative edge called a "cornice" with small block shapes. This design goes all the way around to the north side. A brick section was added to the south side. This part was used as a pump house for the oil. On the west side, there's a wooden loading dock. Inside, the building is mostly open space, with a small office area.
Other Buildings and Their History
Building Two is a one-story brick garage. It measures about 35 feet (11 meters) by 26 feet (8 meters). Building Three was built later, in 1956, and is made of metal.
Originally, there were seven large oil tanks on the site. These tanks are no longer there. Over time, some oil leaked from the tanks into the ground. This required a lot of work to clean up the area.
A Special Place in History
The Continental Oil Company property is considered very important. It was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 13, 2003. This means it's a historic site worth protecting.
