The Coonamble railway station is a special old train station in Coonamble, New South Wales, Australia. It used to be a busy stop on the Coonamble railway line. This station is so important that it's listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register. This means it's protected because of its history. It was added to this list on April 2, 1999.

Station History
Early Days of the Station
The Coonamble railway line was finished in 1903. This meant trains could finally reach Coonamble. The very first station building was built around this time.
Fire and Rebuilding
Sadly, the original station building was completely destroyed. A big fire burned it down in May 1910. But the community didn't give up. A new station was built right after the fire. The station buildings you see today are from that time.
Protecting the Station
Concerns and Support
In 2007, there were worries that the station might be pulled down. The company in charge of the tracks, the Australian Rail Track Corporation, was concerned. They said that people often damaged the station. This made it hard to keep it safe and in good shape. The local council, Coonamble Shire Council, tried to find someone to rent the building. This would help protect its future.
Funding for Repairs
Good news came in 2009. The station received $131,045 from the government. This money was for important repairs and to help keep the station safe. By 2015, the train platform had also been rebuilt.
What the Station Looks Like
The Coonamble railway station is a special heritage site. It has a main station building made of brick. This building was designed in a style called "type 16 pioneer." It also has an awning, which is a roof-like cover. This building was built in 1910.
There was also a timber (wooden) goods shed from 1910. This shed was part of the original heritage listing. However, reports now say that this wooden shed is no longer there.

The Coonamble railway station is very important. It's considered a "pioneer site." This means it shows how early railway stations were built. The brick building is still in its original form. It's thought to be the only one like it in New South Wales. Another similar brick building in Narrabri has been changed over time. The fact that Coonamble station is still mostly complete makes it even more special.
The station building is also an important public building. It has nice details and good proportions. It uses a special rough finish on its triangular roof parts, called gables. It also has unique wooden decorations. Other buildings around the station help show what the whole area was like.
