Coonamble is a town in central-western New South Wales, Australia. It's located on the Castlereagh Highway. In 2016, about 2,750 people lived there. Coonamble is an important center for growing wheat and raising sheep. The town's name comes from an Aboriginal language, Gamilaraay. It means "a place with a lot of...".
Brigidine nuns from Ireland started a school here in 1883. Their beautiful old convent building was moved in 1990. It traveled 600 kilometers (about 373 miles) to Pokolbin. Now, it's a resort called The Convent.
Coonamble used to be a big sheep farming area. But now, more people are raising cattle. Summers can get very hot, up to 40 degrees Celsius (104°F). Winters can be cold, sometimes reaching 0 degrees Celsius (32°F) at night. In 2009, Coonamble had big floods around Christmas.

Sports Teams
Coonamble has two main sports teams:
