In February 2017, Jesse played for the Sharks' main team in the 2017 World Club Challenge. This was a big game against the Wigan Warriors, and he even scored a try! In May, he played for the Junior Kangaroos against the Junior Kiwis.
Later that year, in round 26 of the 2017 NRL season, he made his official NRL debut for the Sharks. He played against the Newcastle Knights and scored a try in his very first game. The day after, he was chosen as the centre in the NYC Team of the Year.
Moving to Newcastle in 2018-2019
In February 2018, Jesse signed a two-year contract with the Newcastle Knights, starting in 2019. During the 2018 season, in a game against the Knights, he scored two tries. The Sharks won that game 48-10 at Hunter Stadium.
Jesse made his debut for the Knights in the first round of the 2019 NRL season. They won 14-8 against his old team, the Sharks. During the season, there were talks that he wasn't happy at the Knights. He felt he wasn't getting enough chances to score on his side of the field. After playing 17 games and scoring 2 tries, he was left out of the team. He was then allowed to look for another club.

During the 2022 NRL season, Jesse played 23 games and scored ten tries. In one game, he was sent off the field temporarily for a shoulder charge. But the Sharks still won the game with fewer players! He also scored an amazing hat-trick (three tries) in a 28-6 win against Melbourne. The Sharks made it to the finals but were eliminated after two close games.
In the 2023 NRL season, Jesse played 25 games for Cronulla. He scored two tries in a big 40-8 win against St. George Illawarra. The Sharks finished sixth on the ladder. Their season ended with a close 13-12 loss to the Sydney Roosters in the finals.
