Town Hall in Copley, Ohio

Copley is a small community located in Summit County, Ohio, in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's managed by the larger county or township.

A Look Back at Copley's History

The area where Copley now stands was first settled by people around the year 1819. Before it was called Copley, it had other names like Greenfield and Copley Center. The community got its name because it's located near the very center of Copley Township.

In 1835, a post office was opened in the community, and it was first called Copley Centre. A few years later, in 1841, its name was officially changed to just Copley. This post office served the community for many years until it finally closed in 1957.
