Copperfield is a large, planned community located in northwestern Harris County, Texas, in the United States. It's not part of a specific city, but it's a well-organized area with many homes. The community was built by a company called Friendswood Development Company and covers about 1,800 acres of land. Small streams and waterways, like Horsepen Bayou, flow through the area.
History of Copperfield
The story of Copperfield began in 1977. That year, the Friendswood Development Company bought a huge piece of land. This land was about 1,800 acres and was located near two important roads: Texas State Highway 6 and Farm to Market Road 529.
Just two years later, in 1979, the very first houses in Copperfield were built and sold. People started moving into this new community. As Copperfield grew, Friendswood Development bought even more land. In 1989, they added another 260 acres. They continued building new homes throughout the 1990s.
In 1991, another company, Standard Pacific of Houston, also became involved. They bought 70 acres within Copperfield from Friendswood Development. Their plan was to build 265 more houses in a part of Copperfield called Copperfield Place Village. This shows how the community kept expanding and developing over the years.
