Corey Cerovsek, born on April 24, 1972, is a talented Canadian musician and mathematician. He plays the violin and piano. When he was just 12 years old, he achieved something amazing: he was the youngest student ever to win a gold medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music. This is a very important music school!
Corey has won many awards for his music. In 1992, he received the Virginia-Parker Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts, which supports artists in Canada. He was even nominated for a Grammy Award in 2006 for his excellent chamber music performance. In 2008, he won the MIDEM Classical Music Award for his recordings of Beethoven's violin sonatas.

Corey Cerovsek's Early Life and Education
Corey Cerovsek was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His parents, Sophia and Helmut Cerovsek, moved to Canada from Austria. Corey has a sister named Katja Cerovsek, who is also a pianist and a lawyer.
Corey started learning to play the violin when he was only five years old. He studied with several great teachers, including John Loban and Josef Gingold.
Studying Music and Math
In 1984, when Corey was 12, he began studying music at Indiana University in Bloomington. He was incredibly smart and finished his bachelor's degree in both music and mathematics by the time he was 15!
He continued his studies, earning a master's degree in music in 1988. He also earned a master's degree in mathematics in 1990. By 1991, at age 18, he had completed all the coursework for his doctoral degrees in both music and mathematics.
Corey Cerovsek's Music Career
Corey Cerovsek made his first big performance in 1981 with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, he has played with many major orchestras and given concerts all over the world.
He often plays on a very special violin called the "Milanollo" Stradivarius. This instrument is famous because it was once played by other legendary violinists like Nicolò Paganini.
