Corinna Union Academy facts for kids
Corinna Union Academy was a very old school in Corinna, Maine. Today, it is a museum where people can learn about its history.
This important school began in 1851. Seventy local citizens worked together to create an organization. They built the first high school academy building. The next year, in 1852, the state government of Maine officially approved the school. This approval is called a charter. The school building became bigger in 1931 when more space was added.
Corinna Union Academy stopped being a high school in 1968. After that, high school students from the area went to Nokomis Regional High. However, the building was still used as Corinna Junior High. It served younger students until it finally closed in 1998.

Many interesting people once studied at Corinna Union Academy. Here are two of them:
- Gilbert Patten was a famous writer. He wrote many popular adventure stories. These stories were often called "dime novels" because they were very cheap to buy.
- Grenville C. Emery was a very important educator. He is known for starting a well-known school. This school is called the Harvard-Westlake School.
