Corinth was an unincorporated community in Montague County, Texas, United States. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's usually governed by the county. Corinth was located about 12.4 miles (20 km) east-northeast of Nocona.

What Was Corinth, Texas?

Corinth was never a large town or city. It was mostly a gathering spot for local farming families. The main building in the community was a church. This church was very important to the people living nearby.

The Church: A Community Hub

The church in Corinth served several purposes for the community. It was a place for people to worship together. It also worked as a meeting place for everyone in the area. On top of that, the church building was used as a school. Children from the many farming families in north central Montague County came here to learn.

The End of Corinth

Over the years, as farming changed and people moved, the community of Corinth slowly faded away. The old church building was no longer used. After many years of being empty, the church collapsed in 1982. Today, nothing is left of the original community of Corinth. It exists only in history books and old maps.
