Cornettsville is a small, unincorporated community located in Bogard Township, Daviess County, Indiana, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. It's part of the larger county.

History of Cornettsville

Cornettsville was first planned and created in the year 1875. It was given its name to honor one of the people who helped start the community, a man named Samuel Cornett.

A post office was opened in Cornettsville in 1878. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1902.

There's an interesting story about how the community got its name. The people who lived there wanted to name it after the family with the most members. The two biggest families at the time were the Cornett family and the Myers family. In the end, the Cornett family had just one more person than the Myers family, so the community was named Cornettsville!
