Corrales is a small town and municipality in the Boyacá region of Colombia. It is part of the Tundama Province. In 2005, about 2,481 people lived there.
History of Corrales
Founding of the Town
Corrales was officially started on January 28, 1782. It was founded by a person named Vizente de Rivera y Mendoza.
Battles for Freedom
Corrales played a part in Colombia's fight for independence. Between July 6 and 10, 1819, three important battles happened there. These battles were part of Bolívar's campaign to liberate New Granada. This was a big military effort led by Simón Bolívar to free the region from Spanish rule. The people of Corrales helped in this important historical event.
