Cottage Hill once had its own post office. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. This post office opened in 1855. For a short time, in 1895, its name was changed slightly to "Cottagehill." The post office closed down in 1902. Besides the post office, Cottage Hill also had a country store. This was a general store where people could buy everyday items they needed.
